The Medical City Galore

Since December 2010, we have been in and out of The Medical City (TMC) in Ortigas. Daddy has been sickly lately and when my mom needed him to be rushed to the emergency, they have to take him to TMC because of the HMO coverage that I got him and it is near to our office. There were some complications already that was discovered at the emergency room alone and these were based from daddy's test results when he was hospitalized last October at St. Lukes!!!! So he was then asked to be admitted and we stayed there for two weeks. We were praying fervently that we don't spend our Christmas inside the small room he was at. Luckily a week before Christmas, we were given a go signal to go home! The yehey was somewhat short live since we have to go back so often for check ups and of course Daddy's chemotherapy. He was diagnosed to have Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Based from Wikipedia, non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHLs) are a diverse group of blood cancers that include any kind of except Hodgkin's lymphomas. Types of NHL vary significantly in their severity, from indolent to very aggressive. Lymphomas are types of cancer derived from lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell.

So from December up to now, we are at TMC almost every week. His chemo schedule is every 21 days and needs to have 6 cycles. He just finished his second session last week. I actually feel that I live in the hospital! I now know every corner of the hospital, what elevators to take to avoid the mass of people, what department is on what floor!!! I even now know how to swivel and turn a wheelchair without bumping my Dad at the wall! We have a long way to go for Daddy's treatment and I know we will be able to make it. I just hope taxi drivers will be easier to convince to go to TMC from our place! Hirap mag hintay ng cab eh! Good thing about this ordeal... hmmm.. Cute at gwapo mga nurse at doctor sa TMC! hahahaha

A result of boredom while waiting for daddy's surgeon!
